Textile in Turkey

Turkey is one of the leading countries in cotton production.

The quality of cotton produced in Turkey is one of the best in the world, second only to Egyptian and American/Virginian cotton. Turkey’s textile business began in the early 1980’s and grew rapidly reaching 18.000 manufacturer/exporters in addition to the 50.000 related sub-contractors and manufacturers in the following 2 decades. All of this made Turkey the second biggest country with exports to Europe. In 2006, competition from the Far-East forced Turkey to decrease the number of its manufacturers. This allowed Turkey to decrease price level and production time all the while increasing product quality and production innovation. Some of the world’s best known brands are produced in Turkey including Prada, Boss, Armani, Lagerfeld, Filippa K, Diesel, Zara, H&M, M&S, Gant, Dolce Gabbana, Max Mara, Nautica, Sandro, Maje, Pinko, Patrizia Pepe, Tommy Hilfiger, La Perla.
