What We Do?

Gaia Sourcing established a sustainability department and after doing that, merged it with the existing CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) department to create and enhance the team to tackle the issue.  Our CSR responsible is a professional BSCI auditor and issues unannounced audits to suppliers and is also equipped with a Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) certificate and education. Hence our responsible has the ability to also see through and inspect the process a factory goes from the entry of chemicals to the factory, to how and where they are used until how and where they are discharged. Our CSR responsible also gives periodical education and awareness seminars to our quality control teams (QC) as well as factory workers of our suppliers and the QC teams of our suppliers, since we perceive ourselves and the suppliers as a team, being at the same level of awareness is crucial in this process. Also our QC teams visit factories every day, therefore we do not rely solely on BSCI or other reports such as Sedex and Fairwear and so forth.

Combined with the duties of our sustainability department which are; First, keeping track of new points of interest and innovative aspects in sustainability hence establishing a network of information and knowledge, then, after determining the information’s nature, cross referencing it with the textile business for the adaptability of all info. A department manager operates in the sustainability department to monitor this process. Second, pursuing new designs and innovative material on a local and global basis and presenting them to our customers. Third aspect; attending seminars and trainings, arranging periodical presentations and reports and keeping management up to date on circular business models. One team member is specifically assigned to attend professional seminars for this.

Gaia’s sustainability department is %100 interconnected with other departments operating in the company.
